We accept 8-bit per channel RGB JPEG or TIFF files only.

The Durst Theta 76HS prints at a fixed 254 dpi. If you are building files at one of the ordering sizes, do not go above that. Submitting files at size but at a higher resolution only slows production down, because the RIP has to throw the extra information away before printing.

We have no strong preference, as long as it is a normal working RGB color space such as sRGB IEC61966 or Adobe RGB 1998.

Yes, two ways. The easiest is ROES: in the Poster Special catalog there is a layouts tab holding many smaller and odd sizes laid out on the standard sizes — a 24x36 on a 30x40, or a 22x28 on a 24x30, for example.

The other way is to build your file at the size you want, then extend the canvas around the image to a size we do offer. Want an 18x24? Build it at 18x24, then extend the canvas to 20x30 and order the 20x30. Trimming is available from $5 per print for up to four cuts.

If you want to crop your own files we strongly recommend ROES. It is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get interface, so you can crop, fit or rotate your image inside the template.

If your files are not proportional to the size ordered and no cropping method is chosen, you will get a print back with white borders.

Yes, but if you would rather we left them alone, say so in the special instructions or select No Color Correction on the ROES review order screen. The amount of correction we apply is minimal, and we do not correct subjective images such as sunsets or artistic work.

Everything on the Durst is a silver halide photographic print on Fuji Professional Crystal Archive paper, processed in Fuji Professional RA-4 chemistry.

The larger formats printed on our HP 365 Latex are inkjet, using latex ink on HP Professional Satin Photo Paper. HP rates that combination at well over 100 years.

Yes, but do not overdo it — sharpen to taste without bringing out artifacts. The RIP applies sharpening based on your file size and the print size, but only enough to make up for what is normally lost printing digital files to photographic paper.

Under normal lighting conditions — not direct sunlight or spotlights — the Wilhelm Institute rates Fuji Professional paper at 80+ years before noticeable fading.

No, we do not open and inspect files for quality. If you are unsure whether a file is big enough, upload it and click its thumbnail — there is a quality meter based on file size and the print size you want, which gives you a good idea.

We cannot be responsible for assumptions. If you have questions or concerns, email, call, or note it in the special instructions field. There are no refunds or credits for mistakes made on your end.

No. Orders are printed in the order we receive them. We do try to meet real deadlines, but it cannot be assumed — call us or put the request in special instructions and we will see what we can do. Rush shipping only changes how the order ships, not how it is processed.

Your prints are rolled around a 2.5″ diameter tube, bubble wrapped, and inserted into a 4″ diameter tube with quarter-inch walls. Orders ship UPS, except Alaska, Hawaii and international orders, which go USPS Priority Mail and USPS Global Express Mail respectively.

Our goal is a completely satisfied client. If the quality is off because of a printing error on our part, we will gladly replace the prints. We cannot refund or reprint free of charge for problems in the files themselves that were not caught before uploading — at these prices we cannot inspect files for quality or resolution artifacts, so that part is yours.

The web interface does not let us display free standard shipping on subtotals over $150. Since it does not charge your card, we deduct the standard shipping before billing. Free standard shipping applies to orders shipping inside the continental US only.

You have 14 days from receipt of the order to request a replacement or refund. Beyond 14 days, we reserve the right to determine whether a replacement is due. Please inspect your prints as soon as your package arrives and contact us immediately if there is any damage or concern.
