Color Management

More than five decades in professional photofinishing, and color management has always been priority one. Twelve ICC profiles are below, free to download, for soft proofing your work in our output before you order.

How we hold color

Every machine is first calibrated with its own internal software to linearize it. We then profile each printer and paper type, and using several industry-standard test images we tweak those profiles until our printers match back to known, scientific color and density standards.

What that means for you: prints that come back with the truest representation of their colors and densities.

Quality control

To make sure we are giving you back the best quality color corrected prints, we verify our color correcting stations and printers several times a day against our reference images.

Soft proofing, step by step

These profiles are for soft proofing only — do not convert to them

  1. Download the profile for the paper you are working with, from the lists below.
  2. Windows: save the file anywhere, then right-click the profile and choose Install Profile.
  3. macOS: save the profiles into /Library/ColorSync/Profiles. In Safari you may need to right-click and choose Download Linked File, and check that the files end in .icc.
  4. In Photoshop, open View → Proof Setup → Custom…
  5. Select the profile for your paper. For silver halide work on the Theta or Noritsu, set Rendering Intent: Perceptual and leave everything else unchecked.
  6. For Canon iPF9000 products, set Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric and turn Black Point Compensation on.
  7. Click OK. You are now soft proofing — seeing how the image will print, without converting it.

All of the above assumes a calibrated monitor. To match your monitor to our output, ask us for the PDI target file and hard copies, and include your mailing address.
